Spinifex Beats the Plague

The organized pseudo-anarchy of Spinifex seems to be an effective remedy against virus fatigue. While society has lost the art of improvisation, fortunately there is a cultural sector where that is a minimum condition. To this end, Spinifex has three of the most idiosyncratic improvisers in its ranks: trumpeter Bart Maris, saxophonist John Dikeman and guitarist Jasper Stadhouders. Some titles are inspired by the pandemic disorder. Fuck The Plague and Sex & Pestilence, both short and punk-like, by bass guitarist Gonçalo Almeida are prime examples of this. The album starts refreshingly with a piece by Maris who wants to spray your ears with it. The influence of Eastern rhythms has remained, especially in the compositions of reed player Tobias Klein. The tight grooves with drummer Philipp Moser and Almeida take advantage of this.

One of Europe's most urgent and exciting bands in it's genre.
